As a member of the Georgia Air and Energy Team, Peter’s work includes advocating for clean energy policy before Georgia’s Public Service Commission, challenging Georgia’s air permitting process, and researching coal ash disposal by Georgia’s largest utility company.
Thus far, he is most proud of his work on behalf of a community group in Adel, Georgia, where SELC worked with community partners to negotiate an agreement to monitor and control air pollution from a wood pellet mill.
“A healthy and equitable society requires a clean and vibrant ecosystem,” Peter said. “SELC’s work to transition toward renewable energy, fight for environmental justice, and reduce toxic pollution is vital to protecting the people and places of the South.”
Born and raised in Richmond, Peter loves his hometown river. “The James River gave me water to drink and a place to adventure,” he said. “It connected me to my community and to the Earth, from its headwaters in the ancient Appalachian Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay, and it still inspires me to fight for a just and healthy future for the South.”
