Erin Malec
Director of Communications
As Director of Communications, Erin provides strategic leadership and vision to craft SELC’s communications strategies across multiple platforms, leading a team of more than a dozen communications professionals with expertise in messaging and media relations, digital strategies, design, geospatial analysis, and marketing. During her time at SELC, she has led major communications campaigns ranging from stopping offshore drilling in the Atlantic to advancing solar energy and ensuring clean water protections.
Dedicated to using strategic communications and storytelling to activate environmental change, Erin brought two decades of environmental communications to SELC, most recently leading a team at sustainability nonprofit GreenBlue. A longtime Charlottesville resident, her favorite place to recharge is a camping spot in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
I’ve devoted my career to harnessing the power of communications to advance environmental progress, but I have never had the privilege of working for an organization that gets such incredible results.
