Miller Cochran

Geospatial Analyst

The more Miller learned in his years as a transportation planner, the more he saw the many intersections between how we move people around a place and the environmental impacts on that place. As part of SELC’s geospatial team, he’s able to leverage his technical skills to focus on work that will have a positive impact on the people, places, and communities of the South. His responsibilities include managing SELC’s ArcGIS Online presence, along with generating maps and data visualizations.

One project that took significant time was better understanding the path of the now-cancelled Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Miller was involved from research to map preparation in support of a number of SELC’s legal claims. “It’s one of the areas where I’ve been able to see the fruits of our labor across the board — geospatial, communications, and legal — really pay off.”

Originally from Decatur, Georgia, Miller now calls Durham home. North Carolina is also home to one of his favorite spots in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Roan Highlands, which keeps drawing him back for another chance to view the area’s incomparable vistas.
